Democrat Haley Stevens endorses Republican Senate candidate Mike Rogers over far-left Democrat Abdul El-Sayed

Michigan Democratic Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed’s former primary rival Representative Haley Stevens made a surprise appearance Sunday alongside El-Sayed’s Republican opponent, Mike Rogers, dashing hopes of a public show of unity between the two Democrats before Tuesday’s election.
Later, she went further, endorsing Mike Rogers for the Michigan Senate seat. She also praised Rogers’ support for black-owned businesses. Stevens mentions Abdul El-Sayed’s close friend, the far-left anti-American streamer Hasan Piker, and that she does not stand with him.
In her video endorsement of Mike Rogers, Haley Stevens mentions that Abdul El-Sayed said that she was no longer welcome in his campaign. She also said that “who we are as Michiganders is not hate, and is not what we are getting out of our Democratic nominee right now.”
Stevens also said that she is “still a proud Democrat” and “still very much believe in everything [she] voted for and said.” This is a devastating blow to the far-left candidate that Democrats have put up for the Michigan Senate race.
Only 2 days before the midterms, it remains to be seen how much, if at all, this endorsement will affect the Michigan Senate race. Abdul El-Sayed has had a small, but steady polling lead, and 2026 looks like a very good environment for Democrats.
In an election where control of the Senate could come down to one Senate race, it is possible that Haley Stevens’ endorsement of Mike Rogers could be the difference between a Republican Senate majority and a Democrat Senate majority.
