SJ Earthquakes Player Ratings vs Houston Dynamo: Quakes give up lead following red card
The San Jose Earthquakes fell 2-1 to the Houston Dynamo in what was a tough game for the Quakes following an early red card by Preston Judd. Following the red, the Quakes parked the bus and defended well until the 81st minute, but a goal by the Dynamo broke the seal and ultimately the Quakes were unable to come back.
Starting 11
Yarborough: 7.5 –Did about all he could do. Had a fantastic couple of saves in the second half and was unlucky to give up two goals.
Marie: 6 –Had some decent involvements going forward but was ultimately subbed off at halftime for fresher legs.
Rodrigues: 6 – Had a good first 80 minutes. Unlucky on the first Dynamo goal.
Wilson: 7 –Headed goal in the first half and defended well for majority of the game.
Vitor: 6 –Defended well on the left side. Subbed off due to injury
Tsakiris: 5 – Unfortunate to have to get subbed off early after the Judd red card. Didn’t have the chance to get himself involved in the match.
Morales: 6 –Made his second straight start and had a high work rate after the red card. Was subbed off at halftime for Gruezo.
Yueill: 5 –Was forced to play a more defensive role following the red card, which is not his strong suite. He had some good clearances, but didn’t get the chance to do much going forward. Got himself sent off in stoppage time.
Kikanovic: 6 – Good energy on the wing and up front. Spent much of the night chasing the ball around but did not pull out of any tackles.
Judd: 2 – Had some good holdup play but got himself sent off in the 34th minute for a stupid elbow.
Espinoza: 7 – Swung in a good ball for the assist off the corner.
SUBS
Beason: 5 –Was subbed on to provide cover after the red card. Didn’t really leave his mark on the game.
Gruezo: 4 –Wasn’t great after coming on, gave the ball away a couple times and didn’t look like the energy was there.
Akapo: 4 –Got himself booked and there wasn’t much to say for him on both sides of the ball.
Ricketts: 6 – Made his MLS debut and looked like he belonged.
Ebobisse: N/A – Not enough involvements.
