Trump goes after Vivek Ramaswamy for the first time, calling him ‘deceitful’ and ‘not MAGA’.
Donald Trump levied an attack on Vivek Ramaswamy for the first time on Truth Social calling him, ‘deceitful’ and ‘not MAGA’. This comes just days before the Iowa Caucus, and hours before a crucial Des Moines Register Poll is released.
Trump is expected to carry Iowa by a significant margin and currently holds a majority lead in the Real Clear Politics polling average, currently sitting at 53%. But there have been surprises in the past, and Iowa has been an anomaly in the Republican Party, with Ted Cruz winning in 2016 and Rick Santorum carrying the state in 2012. Neither of which ended up winning the Republican Nomination.
There are many external factors playing out in this Iowa Caucus, one of them being the incoming weather, which is slated to be the coldest Iowa Caucuses in history. This could lead to turnout issues for all candidates, and Trump may be playing it safe by trying to pick off some Vivek Ramaswamy supporters, who seem to be enthusiastic about both candidacies.
Vivek Ramaswamy responded to Trump’s attacks by laying out the justification for his campaign, stating that he remains in the race because they’re not even going to let Trump become president.
The Trump Campaign has signaled that their internal polling shows Nikki Haley in second place, but the Des Moines register poll will could cause a shakeup in the caucus if it shows some surprises. This surprise could include a surging Vivek Ramaswamy, who has held as much as four campaign events in Iowa per day, and pledged to hit all 99 counties in Iowa twice. If Vivek hits double digits in the Iowa Polls, the Iowa Caucuses could be closer than expected.
The Iowa Caucuses will take place on Monday January 15th.
