Reality check for Western Europe

The people who are pro EU, pro NATO and have this idea that the US is betraying Europe usually are the people who lean left politically, and have this bizarre idea of entitlement to US protection, while also thinking the US should be humbled.

It’s why Europeans who have this mentality get along with Democrats; Democrats have this bizarre idea that the US should be ashamed of how powerful it is, and that foreigners are entitled to our help, even when we give it we aren’t exceptional, and if we don’t give them help WE are the ones to blame. 

It’s why when the US gave Ukraine aid, but it took a while, instead of the Europeans kissing the US feet for preventing Ukraine’s capitulation, many criticized the US for having the audacity to debate on whether we continue to give Ukraine aid.

Many American conservatives are pro Ukraine, but many Europeans, especially left leaning Western Europeans, need a reality check. The very existence you have in your peace and prosperity is only because of the US.

Whether from the Marshall Plan after WW2 to the economic and military aid the US gives to Europe for the last 80 years, to the fact that without US military aid to Ukraine, Ukraine would have capitulated in 2022 and Europe would have been screwed. 

Western Europe (besides UK) should be called out for wanting to have its cake and eat it too with respect to the US. Simultaneously demanding US protection and involvement in complicated conflicts, benefitting from US action, criticizing the US when the US makes decisions, and criticizing the US from the safety of their computers, when the US is the very reason they can exist as they do.

Does it ever make you wonder why European leaders, who actually deal with the real world, are more pro US, than the people in their countries? Because European leaders actually see how important the US is for them, while their citizens do not.

This also comes from the fact that Europe has fallen so much in the world that to cope with their status, they criticize the US. They don’t have so much pride in their individual countries being the best, so they need to fill that with saying the US definitely isn’t the best.

You need to understand that, besides the leftists in America who are anti American and want the US to do the dirty work for Europe while also apologizing for being so powerful, patriotic Americans have seen enough of you and don’t care if you criticize the US for calling you out.

If the threshold to gain your approval is continue to let you free ride off America, while also apologizing for being us and Europeans still criticizing us, generally with unsophisticated cliches about the US, then we do not care about gaining your approval, or if you think we are “isolating ourselves.”

We, the US, will continue to have allies and continue to lead the world, whether you throw a tantrum or don’t. It’s sad, because many Americans are happy with how we have helped Ukraine and Israel and Taiwan. But the Western Europeans need a reality check.
