It is difficult to see how to coexist with the modern left

In the wake of Charlie Kirk’s assassination, whose investigation is still ongoing, we hear from the left how shocked they are about what happened, and how now is the time to unite as a country.
Spare us. Over a decade of dehumanization of conservatives from the left created the reality we are living in. The constant charge of “fascist” and “Nazi” to any high profile conservative, coupled with the “it’s ok to punch Nazis” quote is why for over a decade conservatives have needed much more security whenever they come to events, than leftists have.
It’s not just high profile conservatives. It’s conservatives, or should I say non leftists, in all aspects of life. It is always expected for the right of center person to hide his or her views so as not to offend the leftist.
But the more egregious thing about this is that the “conservative” is the person who has views that are not only moderate, but common sense that all human society agreed to for nearly its entire existence.
The idea that people must come to a country legally and assimilate, and that a country has the sole right to determine if ANYONE comes, is not just a moderate stance; it’s the only sane stance.
The idea that transgender people have a gender dysphoria, and at our most tolerant, we can indulge in their fantasy, but that men who think they are women are not in fact women, and can’t be in women’s bathrooms or sports, is a stance so common sense that it wasn’t even debated anywhere on earth until about 10 years ago.
Whether on the problem of radical Islamic fundamentalism, late term abortion, or blaming white people and “white supremacy” for the problems many African Americans face, the views that modern conservatives largely have on these topics isn’t even right wing,
It is only framed as right wing by the modern leftist movement, which itself is a radical fringe political ideology that is only tolerated in extremely tolerant, well off Western countries. The irony of course is that modern leftism claims that the West itself is an evil, oppressive place, when the reality is quite the opposite.
It takes some roots in necessary self-criticism, and combined with guilt over the power the West had, has, and exerted, and wants the West to lie down prostrate and in self flagellation for all the ills it has done, despite the fact that every single evil of the West is something all civilizations have done, but what makes the West unique; its self criticism, openness, universalist values, Christianity, is what sets it apart and above all other civilizations.
The modern left on cultural issues is a movement of perpetual revolution, which takes some of its ideas and tactics from Marxists and philosophers like Antoni Gramsci. The economic wing of the far left, communism, lost, so they have put all their energy into the cultural leftist religion.
Through a period of a couple hundred years, which began during the Enlightenment, and came to a head in the 1960s in America, the left worked through the institutions of information, power and control, to come to control them, and then surreptitiously portray culturally left wing ideas axiomatic.
Of course, the left was able to do this because they often tethered themselves to at the time progressive ideas that were good. If advocating for the equal rights of all people, including women and racial and religious minorities, made you a progressive, then being progressive at that time was good.
And because all human societies, including the enlightened West, had many structures, not just of hierarchy, but injustice, through the years, being on the progressive side to drive society towards the equal rights of all was something positive.
At a societal sense, all laws pertaining toward equal rights have now been realized. But the leftist movement is never ending, so it had to go beyond the advocating of equal treatment for all. It had to morph into a movement seeking “retribution” on behalf of the “wronged” groups, and portraying any unequal outcomes as intrinsically a result of oppression.
In this ideology, there was no room for disagreement. Those who disagree weren’t just people with differing opinions; they were obstacles to the arc of history and had to be stopped by any means necessary.
This is where the dehumanization came in. For the left, any opposition was ipso facto evil. And evil could not be reasoned with. This idea, which contributed to the casual rhetoric of “fascist” and “Nazi” to describe anyone not on the extreme left, fomented the environment where deranged leftists would make attempts on the lives of moderates and conservatives, and the purveyors of information would generally make excuses for them.
Even describing the situation in this way is incredibly frustrating. The way that it is being described almost implies that, even if the left is going too far, that their opponents should “be allowed” to have their opinions, as if their opinions were extreme, but still should be given the opportunity to be aired.
But that’s not the reality we live in. The opinions that we have to write think pieces on, explaining why they shouldn’t be shut down are actually the moderate positions that should be the default in a sane society.
It is modern leftist opinions that are extreme and they should be the ones justifying their existence. The whole exercise of needing to explain this shows how thoroughly a small, but extreme has captured us and duped us into thinking their views are the norm.
They’ve done it so thoroughly, that one needs to be eloquent and clever in explaining why modern conservative ideas are actually correct, when most of those ideas are not right wing and should be the default.
When you couple this with the fact that, because the left controls the institutions, they are able to frame the clear surge in left wing political terrorism as a “both sides” problem, you get a tinderbox waiting to explode.
For many on the right, the political reality is one where the purveyors of information gaslight and spin in the best possible way that is still semi-legitimate for those in the middle.
The gaslighting, with the opposite of reality being presented as the reality, and the dehumanization of and consequent violence toward, the political right, is making it impossible for many on the right to coexist with those on the left.
Dehumanize conservatives, with the most vile and false accusations, that in all honesty would be more accurate if leveled against leftists themselves, push increasingly radical ideas, and commit political violence, and then after all of that, claiming “both sides” need to stop? Many conservatives will not have it.
It is more in conservatives’ nature to be forgiving, passive and benign, so there is a possibility that conservatives will just take what the left has done to them, taking the high road even when all it results in is more violence against them.
But there is also the possibility that the right, or many on the right will say “enough,” and fight back. Civil war would be destructive to the country, and could not happen, as conservatives and leftists both live everywhere, in all states, and in cities, suburbs and rural areas.
Any war would have no battle lines, would have fighting everywhere, and would pit friend against friend, brother against sister. As much as some like to fantasize about an apocalyptic political civil war, it would never happen.
There could be skirmishes here and there, but there would never be a war. But leftists should count themselves lucky that this is the case. Conservative areas control the farmlands where the food is grown.
Conservatives have most of the guns. The political right has more men, and the majority of those in the Armed Services are conservative. This is not a threat, because I am against war, and thankfully, war will never happen.
But it is a reminder that in addition to being the moderate side, the political right allows a much weaker side to impose its will even though, were power to just be the result of who can win in a war, the left would be eviscerated.
It’s hard to see how the political right will ever be able to comfortably coexist with the far left now. The best bet would be conservatives continue to take it, because they have more important things that make their life have meaning and purpose; family, friends, country, a moral code, and God.
The nihilistic cultural left should thank the universe, or whatever they believe in, that conservatives are not like them. If conservatives were like them, there would be Hell to pay. There still might be.
