President Trump’s job approval ticks up slightly

For all of the negative news you hear about President Donald Trump, his approval rating has stayed surprisingly consistent. Of course, it depends which poll you look at, but Real Clear Politics, which aggregates polls, and has been more accurate in polling Trump than many cited polls, has had Trump hovering above 45% approval.
Some polls would have you believe that Trump’s approval rating is near 40%, but nearly of those polls have historically underestimated Trump quite considerably. Trump has even beaten out Real Clear Politics’ polling of him in all 3 of his Presidential elections.
Even with outlier polls included, like that of The Economist, which has Trump 11 points underwater in their newest poll, President Trump’s approval ticked up slightly, to 46.1%.
In Real Clear Politics, President Trump’s approval rating has not fallen below 45% in his term, a far cry from the claims that the country is turning against the President. If anything, Mr. Trump is in a better position than he was at this time in his first term.
When accounting for the built in hatred that nearly half the country will always have for Trump, and the fact that there is usually a 5-10% portion of a President’s base that can fall away, Mr Trump has not lost any significant amount of support.
Whether Trump’s support will stay strong for the next 3.5 years is another question. But so far, there is no reason to assumer that it won’t.
