The MLB Season Is Here!

The MLB season is here! While the the first regular season game officially was on March 20th in South Korea between the LA Dodgers and San Diego Padres, the general start to the regular season was today. The start of the MLB season is always a great occasion, as it marks the beginning of spring.

A few things to note about the 2024 season. The Texas Rangers are the defending World Series champions. This is the first MLB season since the Oakland A’s were approved to relocate to Las Vegas. While the A’s won’t relocate until 2028, there is palpable anger in Oakland.

The season starts amid the controversy over Shohei Ohtani and his interpreter’s gambling/theft scandal. We are still not completely clear about what happened. Some of the opening day results included the Baltimore Orioles beating the LA Angels, the Detroit Tigers beating the Chicago White Sox, and the San Diego Padres beating the San Francisco Giants.

Some of the favorites for the season include the Baltimore Orioles, LA Dodgers and Atlanta Braves. But the game of baseball lends itself to upsets of top teams, especially in the playoffs. So who knows who will end up winning the World Series this Fall.

The MLB Season is here! And about time as well. America’s national pastime lifts the spirits of any red-blooded American.
