A year into his presidency, Javier Milei’s Approval Rating is among the best in the world

President Javier Milei has reached a 65% approval rating in his native Argentina, according to a new poll by Morning Consult.

The poll conducted between Jan.21st and Jan. 27th surveyed people in over 25 countries and asked them about their approval of their current head of state. It found that the 3 best performers were President Narenda Modi of India at 75% approval, President Claudia Sheinbaum of Mexico at 66% approval, and President Javier Milei at 65% approval.

Milei’s approval may come as a surprise to many, as the poverty rate in Argentina has risen to 57%. However, during Milei’s campaign for President, he was blunt with the Argentinian people, telling them that if elected, the austerity measures he would implement would cause the economy to get worse before it got better.

During his inaugural address, he famously uttered the phrase, “we have no money”, in what many viewed as a message to the Argentinian people that the country could no longer afford their current, heavily subsidized, economic model.

Fast forward to today, the Argentine economy looks very different. Milei has achieved a budget surplus, slashed, fired a bunch of government employees, and allied himself heavily with world investors such as Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg. Inflation dropped 93% in just over a year, causing banks like JP Morgan to raise their economic expectations for the country.

These achievements have clearly painted a brighter future for the people of Argentina, leading them to approve overwhelmingly of their president.
