‘Woke Bishop’ who stirred controversy with Sermon appears on MSNBC, The View – Here’s what she had to say

Episcopalian Bishop Mariann Edgar Budde made appearances on MSNBC and The View to explain the controversial sermon she delivered in front of President Trump and Vice President Vance where she asked the President to ‘have mercy’ on LGBT children. This has lead to many people referring to her as the “woke bishop”.
With Trump in attendance on the day after his inauguration, Budde stated,
“Millions have put their trust in you. And as you told the nation yesterday you have felt the providential hand of a loving God. In the name of our God, I ask you to have mercy upon the people in our country. And we’re scared now.
There are gay, lesbian and transgender children in Democratic, Republican and independent families — some who fear for their lives”.
Following her comments, Bishop Budde made her rounds around news outlets, including appearances on MSNBC and The View.
This is not the first time Bishop Budde has spoken out against President Trump.
In 2020, she expressed her displeasure at Trump’s decision to hold up a bible in front of St. John’s Church after BLM rioters set fire to the historic building and destroyed millions in private property around Washington D.C.
She stated, “The President just used a bible…and one of the churches of my diocese without permission as a backdrop for a message antithetical to the teachings of Jesus and everything that our churches stand for…I am outraged”.
