Trump warns Iran in late night X post: ‘The entire U.S. Military is watching and waiting.’

Donald Trump issued a late night warning against Iran in an X post, following intelligence indicating that Iran has been looking to assassinate him in order to sow division and chaos in the United States.

According to his campaign, President Trump was briefed earlier in the day by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) regarding threats posed by Iran against him.

These threats from Iran are not new. Iran has been looking for a way to get back at Trump since the U.S. killed Qasem Soleimani, head of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corp (IRGC) in 2020.

In August of this year, the DOJ charged Asif Merchant in a murder for hire plot against US leaders. According to the DOJ, Merchant had connections to the Iranian government.

Donald Trump was notably very hawkish against Iran during his term as president. He pulled out of the Iranian nuclear deal, imposed harsh economic sanctions, and negotiated the Abraham Accords.

The Abraham Accords were seen as the beginning of a normalization of relations between Israel and Arab countries, and excluded Iran completely.
