Trump posts best ever results in new set of swing state polls

New swing state polls from Marist show Donald Trump and Kamala Harris tied in the state of Pennsylvania, Harris leading in Wisconsin by 1, and Harris leading in the state of Michigan by 5.

Still, this is Trump’s best ever showing in a Marist swing state poll, with 2016 and 2020 failing to truly capture the depth of Trump support in these three crucial battleground states.

Marist underestimated Trump support significantly in both 2016 and 2020. In 2016 they had Clinton winning the state of Pennsylvania by 12. In 2020 their final poll of Wisconsin had Biden winning the state by 10.

The results will be welcome news for the Trump campaign as they look to find their footing after last week’s debate. For the Harris campaign, their hopes of a big post-debate bump still haven’t fully materialized, with voters still not sure how to properly assess her strength as a candidate.
