‘Never seen anything like this’: CNN host left speechless after polls show black voters leaving Democratic Party at historic rates
On CNN’s morning show, senior data reporter Harry Enten revealed that Trump’s current polling numbers show that he’s “careening towards a historic performance” among African Americans in the November general election.
Enten’s examination of the data was on an aggregate of polls examining the support for both candidates among the black community. At the current rate of 21% support for Trump, would be the highest percentage seen in six decades for a Republican candidate.
Trump has made the courting of the black vote a key part of his campaign. Just last week he visited a primarily black church in Detroit. In May, he held a rally in the Bronx amid his criminal trial in Manhattan that drew thousands in a historically blue part of town. While it’s unlikely that Trump wins New York, it did draw points among the local community with many saying ‘Biden didn’t come to the Bronx’.
The Trump Campaign will view these numbers as a welcome sign. Expect Trump to continue to visit these communities in an attempt to sway people to vote Republican, many of them for the first time.
