Iranian President Raisi Could Be Dead After A Helicopter Crash
Iranian President Raisi could be dead after a helicopter crash. Rescue teams haven’t been able to locate the helicopter carrying Raisi. This comes after the helicopter crashed in northwestern Iran. Iran’s interior minister has not provided any other details.
Harsh weather conditions and heavy fog have made the search for the crash site very difficult. The province that the plane crashed in is remote and mountainous. Raisi is the second most powerful figure in Iran, just under Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
“We are still hopeful, but information coming from the crash site is very concerning,” said an official. Darkness and cold, rainy, muddy conditions made it difficult for rescuers to reach the incident site, Iranian state media reported. Things are not looking good.
This comes amid rising tensions between Iran and Israel over the war in Gaza. Losing their second in command would hurt for Iran, but it shouldn’t keep Iran from carrying out their foreign policy. But there is still a possibility that Raisi could survive. It’s just getting less likely as time goes on.
