Javier Milei sounds off on Pro-Choice Law: ‘Abortion is Murder’
In a post on the social media platform X, the president of Argentina Javier Milei sounded off on abortion, calling it “a murder aggravated by the bond and the disproportion of forces”. Also adding, “If you are seeing this post and are one of those who positively consider this type of aberrations, thank your mother for not thinking the same way.”
This comes following the sharing a graphic from the Vice President of Argentina Victoria Villarruel showing that since the passing of the law in 2020 that legalized abortion up until 14 weeks, more abortions have taken place in the South American country than amount of people that live in the entire province of Tierra Del Fuego. “This is not the way”, Villarruel stated in the clearest sign that the Milei Administration will work to reverse the legal abortion law.
Milei took a pro-life stance on abortion during the 2023 presidential campaign. He notably did so during an interview with Tucker Carlson. To this day the interview has racked up an impressive 428 Million impressions on X. Many critics said it was a bad idea to take such an anti-abortion stance, but tt didn’t affect his campaign. He received the most votes for a candidate in history. Now that he’s in office, he’ll look to make good on his promises.
The Pro-Abortion movement in Argentina is believed to have inspired other movements around the world. People in the United States continue to protest the overturning of Roe v Wade by the US Supreme Court. Many doing so with green bandanas. The ‘green bandana trend’ began in Argentina. It has now spread worldwide to become a symbol for the pro-choice movement.
