Poll: Trump holds a comfortable lead against Biden nationally
Less than 11 months to go until the general election and Trump holds a comfortable national lead against Joe Biden in a new poll from Harvard/Harris. The poll surveyed a sample of 3,492 registered voters and showed President Trump leading President Biden by 6 points in a head to head, and by 8 points in a three way race with 3rd party candidate, Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
The poll spells trouble for Biden on multiple fronts, as he’s fighting to maintain support among the Democratic electorate, as well as Independents. The survey reveals that he’s the least favorable candidate, currently sitting at a 43% favorability rating, compared to RFK Jr. and Trump, who both sit at 49%.
The Biden campaign is heavily relying on the fact that they’re likely going to end up in a head to head matchup against Trump, which they few as favorable. But this poll tells a different story. When respondents were asked, ‘Are you better or worse off personally during the presidency of Joe Biden?’ Only 45% reported to be better off. On the other hand, when the question of ‘Were you better or worse off during the presidency of Donald Trump?’ was posed to responders, 61% reported they were better off.
Biden will hope to right the ship immediately. He will be present at a fundraiser in Trump’s home state of Florida on January 30th. In a message to donors the campaign stated the “excitement around this event has been amazing.”
