US Star Pulisic on verge of new, lucrative AC Milan deal, as Italian media says the club must “build their team around” the American

United States national team star Christian Pulisic is in talks with AC Milan over a new contract, a source has told ESPN. Pulisic joined the Italian club on a four-year deal in July 2023 but is keen to commit himself to a longer stay at Milan, where he has become a key member of the squad.

He is the first Milan player to score 15-plus goals in all competitions in each of his first two seasons since Zlatan Ibrahimovic in 2010-11 and 2011-12. Pulisic equaled his career-best goal tally for a season with his 15th goal of the campaign in Milan’s 2-1 win over Como on Saturday.

This is a notable improvement in form for the US men’s national team talisman, who often struggled for playing time while at Chelsea. Pulisic’s time in Italy has seen him gain in confidence, as well as on the stats sheet.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Christian Pulisic is expected to sign a new contract with AC Milan that will run until 2028, with an option to extend it through 2029. His current deal was set to expire in June 2027, meaning Milan is eager to secure his services for the long term.

As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, the new contract will place Pulisic among Milan’s highest earners — a reflection of his consistent performances on the pitch and his professionalism off it.

Pulisic has contributed 15 goals and 9 assists in 38 appearances, which amounts to his best season statistically of his career. In fact, some in the Italian media say that AC Milan needs to be built around the American.

The exact amount of money that Pulisic will make in his new contract is not yet known. But it will definitely be a clear pay increase, a well deserved level up for a man who has gone through challenges and improved.
