The ‘Not My President’s Day’ Protest Is Still Going On Against Trump, But It’s Weaker Than Ever

Today is President’s Day. From the name, we can obviously ascertain that it is a day meant to honor US Presidents. But since Donald Trump entered the White House the first time, it has been a time for certain members of the political left to vent their frustration against Mr. Trump.

The first “Not my President’s Day’ protest came on the first President’s Day that Trump was in the White House, February 20, 2017. 13 people were arrested at the Portland, Oregon event.

Since then, it has become an opportunity for many people disgruntled with Donald Trump’s policies to make the claim that Donald Trump was not their President. Now, this could be true, provided that those making the claim were not American citizens.

But anyone who is an American citizen and makes the claim is in for a shock; Donald Trump is, in fact, their President. Investigators are still analyzing how many of these protesters are aware of this fact.

After 4 years out of the White House, Donald Trump is back, and so is the protest. They have now created what is called the #50501 movement. This refers to the goal of 50 protests in 50 states in one day.

The claim of this year’s protest is fighting executive overreach. So it is possible that the participants recognize, and might even admit, that Donald Trump is their President, but that they are protesting Mr Trump’s actions.

The object of their concern they now claim is Donald Trump’s overreach. They don’t want a King or a tyrant. Such a thing cannot happen in the United States by use of Executive Orders.

This is because, should an Executive Order come in contradiction with the law, the courts can strike them down. In fact, many Executive Orders from Trump have been stalled by left leaning judges.

It should also be noted that the former President, Joe Biden, used Executive Orders in an extremely profligate manner. Unsurprisingly, the organizers of these protests did not raise any concerns when this happened.

Nor did they raise concerns when Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau froze the bank accounts of people to force them to stop protesting. And nor for that matter do these people, concerned about tyranny, raise concerns about much of Europe’s suppression of free speech, notably a man in Britain being arrested for praying outside an abortion clinic, and the arrests of people for posting memes in Germany.

Thankfully, the “Not my President’s Day” movement has lost some of its steam. This is most likely a result of the American public having a broadly favorable view of Donald Trump, with Trump possibly at his highest level of approval in his political career.

But while the left wing anti-Trump movement is at a low ebb, it is certainly going to come back with strength at some point. Aided by non step left wing propaganda in media and most purveyors of information, the anti-Trump movement will bide their time until they see a moment to come at Trump full force. When they do, they will be just as vicious as they have always been.
