Christian Pulisic Suffers Another Injury
American talisman Christian Pulisic, AC Milan’s leading scorer, is reportedly out of Sunday’s Serie A match against Roma after a setback during recovery, according to coach Paulo Fonseca.
“I expected to have Pulisic. He is fine, he has recovered from his calf problem, but in the last two days he has had an ankle problem,” Fonseca said. “It has arisen in the recovery process, and he is not ready to play tomorrow, not even for the bench.”
Pulisic had torn a muscle in his right calf in a match against Atalanta on December 6th, and has been working towards a recovery. The American has had a long history of injuries that have stymied his progression.
But Pulisic has been able to have arguably his best professional season of his career at Milan, with 5 goals and 4 assists in 14 Serie A matches. His time in Milan has seen a marked improvement on his time in London with Chelsea.
The hope among US Soccer fans is that Pulisic continues to thrive, start, play well, and not get injured, just in time to be at the peak of his powers when the US hosts the 2026 World Cup.
While Pulisic won’t be able to play this Sunday, US fans should not worry, as this is not a major injury. Pulisic has been progressing, and if he continues this positive trajectory, he will be in a prime position to lead the US in the most important 2 months in US Soccer history in 2026.
