‘Unity’: Trump meets with GOP Lawmakers on Capitol Hill in show of party strength

Capitol Hill, Washington D.C. – Trump met with GOP members of the House of Representatives and Senate as the Republican Party continues to coalesce around the presumptive nominee.

The group included a number of Trump allies like Speaker Johnson, Ted Cruz, and Matt Gaetz. Present in the meeting were also some members that have been critical of Trump, including Mitch McConnell. McConnell endorsed Trump, but was highly critical of his role in the January 6th capitol riot.

A number of issues were discussed in the meeting including abortion, crime rates, and the possibility of eliminating U.S. income tax and replacing it with tariffs on imports.

GOP lawmakers expressed positivity at the topics discussed in the meeting. “Trump was as energized as I’ve ever seen him,” said Rep. Ralph Norman, who initially backed Nikki Haley for President. The outcome of the meeting left a clear message for Americans across the country. The Republican party is united behind their candidate.
