Player Ratings: England tops Slovakia in Extra Time in Euro round of 16

England beat to Slovakia in the round of 16 of the Euros in what was nearly a disastrous performance from Southgate’s side. The team lacked spirit, and creativity, but a moment of brilliance from Jude Bellingham turned things around as the team was able to come out on top in E.T.

Starting 11

Pickford: 5 – Not much he could do on the first goal.

Stones: 4 – Didn’t mark well, and the partnership with Guehi just wasn’t there.

Guehi: 3 – Early yellow, didn’t track the runner on the Slovakia goal. Bad performance.

Trippier: 4 – It’s quite obvious he’s not a left back to everyone except Southgate. He also skied a great chance.

Walker: 5 Kept the Slovakian player onside on the goal. Otherwise was his normal self.

Mainoo: 6.5 – Did well in possession, had a decent shot and certainly took more risks than some of the other players.

Rice: 7.5 – Got stuck in on some tackles and hit the post on a brilliant shot. One of the few players that looked up for it.

Bellingham: 7 – Was unimpressive for much of the game, spent a lot of time complaining to the ref. But that bicycle kick was world class and saved the country from utter embarrassment.

Foden: 4.5 –Not good enough. Didn’t have good delivery and had no reason to be offside on the tap in goal he should’ve had.

Saka: 4- Why was he moved to left back? Can’t expect much from him at that point.

Kane: 7 – Missed a sitter, struggled to get involved and on the end of service. But all is forgotten when you nab the winning goal in extra time.

Subs

Palmer: 7 – Looked lively after coming on.

Eze: 6.5 Came in and did his job. He also played his part in the second goal.

Toney: 7.5 – Great hold up play and a fantastic assist to Kane in what ended up being the winning goal.

Konsa: N/A – Not enough involvements.

Gallagher: N/A – Not enough involvements.
