Rubio For VP? Why He’d Need To Make A Notable Change For That To Happen

Marco Rubio would lose his Florida residency to be Trump’s VP. Rubio allegedly told this to the New York Times. This would be necessitated by the fact that according to the Constitution, a president and vice president on the same ticket cannot share the same state of residency, or they may lose that states’ electoral votes.

Trump, who is also a Florida resident, said that he would not change his Florida residency. His reasoning is that Floridians would not want to see him leave the state. Earlier, Senator Rubio’s office had said that he had not spoken with Donald Trump about the topic.

The possibility of Rubio as Trump’s VP is a marked change in dynamic between the two men since the 2016 GOP primaries. During the primaries, the former President consistently belittled Marco Rubio, calling him “little Marco.” Clearly flustered, Rubio responded to Trump’s attack by calling him “big Don.” The response seemed more of a compliment to Trump than an insult.

But their past differences aside, both Rubio and Trump see the necessity in teaming up to defeat the Democrats this November. At a time of increased attacks on Donald Trump from the political left, both men understand the necessity of winning the 2024 election.
