Marjorie Taylor Greene Has Filed A ‘Motion To Vacate’ Against Speaker Mike Johnson
Marjorie Taylor Greene has filed a ‘motion to vacate’ against Speaker Mike Johnson. She referred to Mike Johnson as the “Nancy Pelosi-endorsed uniparty Speaker.” Greene claims that Speaker Mike Johnson has not followed through on the seven tenets that he put forward as Speaker.
One of Green’s biggest complaints is that Mike Johnson allowed an aid package to Ukraine. The package totaled $95 billion and included aid to Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan. About $60 billion of that aid was for Ukraine. Greene is one of the most vociferous opponents of aid to Ukraine.
This comes shortly after former President Donald Trump voiced his support for Speaker Johnson. It seemed that Trump’s endorsement of Johnson had blunted the momentum against the Speaker. That may be the case on the whole, but it did not stop Representative Greene.
Nonetheless, the House of Representatives voted to block Greene’s attempted ouster of Johnson. Many of the votes in defense of Johnson came from Democrats. Democrats seem to recognize that, with the GOP in the majority, Speaker Johnson is the most preferable option they have as a possible Speaker of the House. This was likely realized after Johnson went against some in the GOP and allowed the aid bill to Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan to be voted on and passed.
Marjorie Taylor Greene has filed a ‘motion to vacate’ against Speaker Mike Johnson. But it looks like she will not be able to oust Mike Johnson from the Speakership any time soon.
