Blackstone CEO backs Trump, calls him a ‘vote for change’

A billionaire donor is backing Donald Trump. Billionaire businessman and lifelong Republican Stephen Schwarzman said Friday he will support the candidacy of Donald Trump. He called it a “vote for change.” This comes after years of declining to back a particular GOP presidential candidate.

Schwarzmann mentioned a “dramatic rise in anti-semitism” as a reason for his backing of Trump. This presumably refers to the Democrats’ increasing support for the pro-Palestinian movement. While not all pro-Palestinians are anti-semitic, there is a heavy dose of anti-semitism in a sizable amount of Palestine’s support.

Schwarzmann also said that he shares “the concern of most Americans that our economic, immigration and foreign policies are taking the country in the wrong direction.” He also pledged to support Republicans in the Senate and up and down the ticket.

This marks a shift from Schwarzmann, who had made comments critical of Trump in the wake of the 2020 election. He suggested in 2022 that the Republican Party needed to seek a “new generation” of leaders.” He met Ron DeSantis in May 2023, but did not back him for President. He is said to have been “unimpressed” with the Florida Governor.

This comes as former President Trump leads President Joe Biden in every swing state. Momentum is definitely on Trump’s side, even amid his legal cases. Democrats, the media, and President Biden himself seem to be in panic mode. They are sure to ramp up the attacks on Trump over the summer.

A billionaire donor is backing Donald Trump. And this is a donor who recently had not been in Trump’s corner. This is another good sign for the Trump campaign. But the election is a long way away, and Donald Trump must be smart and stay on message. Otherwise, he could choke the election away.
