Donald Trump Leads Joe Biden In Key Battleground States
Donald Trump leads Joe Biden in key battleground states. This comes from a Wall Street Journal poll released on Wednesday. The poll showed former President Donald Trump ahead of President Joe Biden in all but one of the most crucial battleground states in the 2024 election.
According to the poll, Donald Trump leads Joe Biden by 5% in Georgia and 3% in Arizona. There are two traditionally Republican states that narrowly flipped to Joe Biden in the 2020 election. Trump all leads by 8% in North Carolina, and by 4% in Nevada. Nevada is a swing state, but has not been won by a Republican since the 2004 Presidential election.
The same poll has Trump ahead of Biden by 3% in Pennsylvania and by 2% in Michigan. Both states went to Trump in 2016 but swung back to Biden in 2020. The only state that Trump is not ahead in the poll is Wisconsin. In the poll, Biden leads in Wisconsin by 3%.
This is curious, because Wisconsin has generally been more right leaning than Michigan and Pennsylvania. Together, this trio of states represent a crucial battle field for the election. All 3 had traditionally been Democratic states, until Trump narrowly won them in 2016. Biden narrowly flipped all 3 in 2020.
It should be noted that these polls all have a quite healthy portion of votes for neither Biden nor Trump. As the election approaches, it is likely that many of those voters will choose between Biden and Trump. But Robert F Kennedy Jr’s candidacy could keep many voters from choosing Biden or Trump.
Donald Trump leads Joe Biden in key battleground states. It is definitely early, but we should not discount that polls look much better for Trump now than at any time during the 2016 or 2020 elections.
