The House Of Representatives Has Approved Aid To Ukraine, Israel And Taiwan
The House of Representatives has approved aid to Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan. It comprised of a $95 billion package of bills that funds aid and weapons to Ukraine, as well as aid to Israel and Taiwan. The bill’s Israel, Taiwan and TikTok provisions also passed. Of the $95 billion in the bill, $60 billion goes to Ukraine.
The aid package passed 311 to 112, with more Democrats voting in favor than Republicans. Just 101 Republicans voted for the bill while 112 voted nay. Near the end of the vote, Democrats began passing around Ukrainian flags. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene’s proposal to strip all funding related to Ukraine from the Ukraine funding bill predictably failed Saturday in a 71 to 351 vote.
While some Republicans are skeptical about the US’ continued financial involvement in supporting Ukraine, other Republicans note that Ukraine’s victory is critical to preventing a wider conflict between NATO and Russia. They warn that Putin is forming a new axis of Evil alongside China and Iran.
Said Speaker Johnson: “I really do believe the intel and the briefings that we’ve gotten that I believe [Chinese President Xi Jinpimg] and Vladimir Putin and Iran really are an axis of evil. And I think they’re in coordination on this. I think that Vladimir Putin would continue to march through Europe if he were allowed [and] I think he might go to the Balkans next. I think he might have a showdown with Poland or one of our NATO allies. To put it bluntly, I would rather send bullets to Ukraine than American boys.”
The House also voted to force TikTok’s parent company to sell it or be banned in the US. $26.8 billion of aid will go to Israel. The US will give Taiwan $8.12 billion in aid. The three foreign aid bills will now go to the Senate for approval. The Democrats have a slim majority, so the bills are likely to pass in the upper chamber.
As we have stated before, it is important not to let other world events make us lose focus on Ukraine. As the leading power in the world, the US must be able to engage in multiple areas in the world. It is critical to do so to defeat evil. It is a long and challenging task, but it is worth it.
The House of Representatives has approved aid to Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan. Hopefully all goes well, and the US sends and continues to send aid to these 3 countries. It is critical that Ukraine keeps its sovereignty and defeats Russia. And it is critical Taiwan keeps its sovereignty and Israel has what it needs to defeat Hamas. They can only do that with the US’ help.
