SCOTUS To Rule on Trump’s Eligibility to Hold Office On Monday
WASHINGTON D.C. – The Supreme Court has announced that they will rule on Trump’s eligibility to appear on the ballot on Monday. The ruling is expected to arrive just one day before Super Tuesday, where 15 states will vote to choose their parties candidates.
The Colorado Supreme Court ruled in December of 2023 that Trump was barred from office due to their view that he incited an insurrection. In their ruling they stated “A majority of the court holds that Trump is disqualified from holding the office of president under Section 3 of the 14th Amendment”
The Supreme Court heard Oral arguments for the case on February 8th, where lawyers representing Former President Trump went head to head against lawyers representing a group of people who sued the state of Colorado to get Trump off the ballot.
The oral arguments in the case appeared to indicate that the Supreme Court will rule in Trump’s favor. Many of the justices called into question the legitimacy of the ruling in Colorado, with lawyers arguing in favor of kicking Trump off the ballot receiving a flood of follow up questions from various justices.
The monumental supreme court decision is slated to shake up the presidential campaign in other states too, as Maine and Illinois have also removed Trump off their states ballots.
