The Worst Day of The Joe Biden Presidency
February 8th, 2024 was quite possibly the worst day in the Biden Presidency. It seemed like everything went wrong for Biden on the day, even circumstances where things should have gone good. We explain.
Trump Colorado Ballot Case is Heard at the Supreme Court
The Supreme Court heard oral arguments in the appeal brought by Donald Trump against the state of Colorado seeking to disqualify him from the election ballot. Jason Murray, representing the voters of Colorado seemed to have a tough time defending the legitimacy of the case. In some instances, even the liberal justices of Kagan, Jackson, and Sotomayor were skeptical of if the state of Colorado has the power to disqualify Trump from the ballot using section 3 of the 14th amendment, “No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice-President – shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof. But Congress may by a vote of two-thirds of each House, remove such disability.”
It would’ve been in the interest of Joe Biden for Trump to have a bad day at the Supreme Court. Joe Biden’s campaign strategy is heavily reliant on labeling Trump as an ‘insurrectionist’, and ‘threat to democracy’. The arguments today seemed to put a wrench in the legality of that claim. The Supreme Court looks set to strike down Colorado’s ruling to keep Trump off the ballot.
Special Counsel Releases Findings on Biden’s Classified Documents Case
Special Counsel Robert Hur released his findings showing that Joe Biden, “willfully” held on to classified materials that were discovered at his home in Delaware and the office of a think tank in Washington DC. However, he decided against charging Joe Biden. This should’ve been a win for Biden, in contrast with Trump, who has a case on his hands regarding classified documents that he’s facing charges in. But, what came next in Hur’s findings was bad news for Joe. Included in his findings, Hur stated that when Biden came in for an interview, he forgot when he was Vice President, or when his son Beau had passed away. This was just the latest in a string of bad incidents where he mentioned that he had spoken to Mitterrand in 2021, who had passed away decades earlier. He also reportedly mixed up Angela Merkel and Helmut Kohl. Kohl having passed away in 2017.
Hur also stated, “We have also considered that, at trial, Mr. Biden would likely present himself to a jury, as he did during our interview of him, as a sympathetic, well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory”.
Tucker Carlson’s interview with Vladimir Putin is released
Tucker Carlson released his interview wit Vladimir Putin on X, as well as on his new media company ‘TCN’. It was a wide ranging interview that touched on a lot of subjects, including the history of Ukraine and Russia, Russian relations with western leaders, how the war between Ukraine and Russia gets settled, and why American journalist Evan Gershkovich is still detained in Russia. For many people in the United States, this was the first time they had heard Putin talk at great lengths. The interview lasted a nonstop two hours. Whether you agree with the kremlin policy or not, there was a stark mental contrast between Biden and Putin on the day.
Biden calls the president of Egypt, “the president of Mexico“
In an attempt to correct the Special Counsel’s suggestion that Biden is mentally unwell, Joe Biden decided to give a press conference. Biden was visibly angry, took a couple questions, and appeared set to walk out. As he was walking out, he heard a question about the Israel-Palestine conflict, and in attempt to answer it, he took credit for convincing the “President of Mexico” to open up the gate to allow humanitarian aid to get into Gaza.
