Standouts From The Alexander Smirnov Indictment
Here is some of the stand out information from the Alexander Smirnov indictment. Alexander Smirnov is the Confidential Human Source being accused of making false statements to the FBI related to Joe and Biden’s dealings in Burisma. The DOJ alleges that Smirnov lied about when he first came in contact with Burisma executives.
Smirnov reported to the FBI that he had been in contact with Burisma in 2015, where executives had told him that they had bribed Biden $5 million dollars to get Ukrainian Prosecutor Victor Shokin fired. The DOJ says that the contact between Burisma and Smirnov happened in 2017, after Joe Biden had left office.
The DOJ alleges that Smirnov was not a fan of Biden, and therefore made up the bribery story to try and keep him from being elected. “The indictment alleges that the defendant transformed his routine and unextraordinary business contacts with Burisma in 2017 and later into bribery allegations against Public Official 1 after expressing bias against Public Official 1 and his presidential candidacy.”
Smirnov is a citizen of Israel, and therefore the DOJ deems him a flight risk due to his ability to obtain a new passport. They are holding him without bail. The Democratic Party and media have been looking for ways to discredit any talk about Biden corruption.
It remains to be seen how this story will play out, but it is likely that the attacks on Mr Smirnov will not be letting up any time soon. It is important for Democrats and the media to downplay any possibility of corruption from the Biden administration.
We will provide updates to this developing story as it happens.
