NEW POLL – Trump Leads Newsom by 10 Points in a Hypothetical Matchup
A new poll administered by Emerson College has Former President Trump leading California Governor Gavin Newsom by 10 points in a head to head matchup.
The poll surveyed 1225 registered voters across the country and took place between Feb.13-14.
Questions have been raised recently about Biden’s mental acuity, and if he’s fit for the job. This comes following a damning report by Special Counsel Robert Hur saying he refused to prosecute Biden on the classified documents case because he’s a “well meaning elderly man with a poor memory”. A new ABC/Ipsos poll also found that 86 percent of Americans think Biden is too old to serve a second term.
Many have been raising the idea of Biden stepping down, and having someone else take his place. For many, that person is Gavin Newsom.
Newsom has indicated that he has no interest in being the Democratic nominee in the 2024 cycle, and has thrown his full support behind Biden. But, political pundits have long speculated that Newsom has plans to try and occupy 1600 Pennsylvania Ave in the future. This poll may be an indicator as to why he will likely have to wait.
Despite his legal troubles, Trump is no easy person to run against. Trump has a much higher name recognition than Gavin Newsom, and has been through the process twice already. Newsom has never ran for President, and when he debated Ron DeSantis on Fox News, it didn’t go that well for him. Many suggested that he might not yet be ready for primetime.
With the election season heating up, there are sure to be some developments in the process.
