Player Ratings – USA vs Germany

The United States lost to Germany 3-1 in their first big test for the USMNT following the world cup in Qatar. The US started very strongly creating loads of chances in the first half and looked the better side. But the second half was horrendous and the US team rightly deserved to lose.

Starting 11

Turner: 6 – A fantastic set of saves and had good distributions. Can’t fault him for the German goals, it was awful defending by the backline.

Turner Save

Ream: 4 – The CB pairing with Richards looked disconnected at times, leading to three German goals down the middle of the pitch.

Richards: 3 – Arguably could’ve done more on all three German goals, looked like he was moving in slow motion at times. Hate to say it!

Dest: 4.5 – Struggled at times against sane, did win a good free kick in the first half but was anonymous on offense in the second.

Scally: 4.5 – Defended well in the first half, but the second was not good for him or anyone else on the backline.

Mckennie: 5 – Thought he outplayed the German midfield in the first half. But like his teammates, it was a second half to forget.

Musah: 5 – Had some good interceptions and played decent in possesion.

Weah: 6 – Had a fantastic first half where it seemed like he was beating the German defense for pace every time. Second half didn’t go his way.

Reyna: 5 –Didn’t have much influence on the game but it was good for him to get some minutes under his belt following his limited playing time so far on Borussia Dortmund.

Pulisic: 7 –Fantastic goal and was dangerous down the left in the first half.

Pulisic Goal

Balogun: 5 – Played a role in the Pulisic goal but struggled to get involved in large parts of the game. Life of a striker

SUBS
De La Torre: 5 – Played okay

Pepi: 6 –Had some good hold up play and almost got himself a goal.

Carter-Vickers: 6 – Defended well and seemed to provide some stability in the CB position after coming on. Hope to see him start next game.

Aaronson: 7 – Looked energetic after coming on. Had a fantastic dribble on a couple German defenders. Pleased with his play.

Johnny: 5 – Didn’t have too many involvements but made no real mistakes either.

Paredes: 3 – Not a good cameo for him, but he is a young player and these experiences against big sides are valuable for his development.
