Is The Hunter Biden Indictment A Smokescreen?

Hunter Biden has been indicted. But is the Hunter Biden indictment a smokescreen? The indictment is on federal gun charges. The indictment charges Hunter Biden with knowingly deceiving a firearms dealer when buying a Colt Cobra 38SPL revolver on Oct. 12, 2018. He is charged with falsely filling out a federal firearms form denying he was addicted to any narcotics.

Hunter Biden has acknowledged he was a drug addict at the time. The charges revive the prospect that Hunter Biden could be jailed if convicted. He faces a maximum sentence of 25 years in prison if convicted − five years for the false statement to the dealer, 10 years for the false statement on the federal form and 10 years for possession of the firearm.

The case is being overseen by special counsel David Weiss, who also headed the investigation. The White House referred requests for comment to the Justice Department and Hunter Biden’s legal team. An attorney for Hunter Biden, Abbe Lowell, said in a statement that the new charges are politically influenced and unwarranted.

Former President Donald Trump blasted the indictment. On Truth Social, the 45th President said that the gun charge was “the only crime that Hunter Biden committed that does not implicate Crooked Joe Biden.” Republican House Speaker Kevin McCarthy announced on Wednesday that he was directing a committee to open an impeachment inquiry into President Biden.

This sets up a possible rematch of two men, Trump and Biden, who are each under legal and political fire. Other Republicans noted that this indictment was a distraction from the larger issues of the Biden administration. Republican candidate Vivek Ramaswamy made this point very eloquently.

As we have noted, the left has overwhelming institutional power in the United States, and they often use that power to supposedly “hold Democrats and liberals to account,” but in almost every instance where this happens, they are going for a lesser attack than what is warranted, just to create the appearance that the system is in any way fair. It is not.

Is the Hunter Biden indictment a smokescreen? This is just the tip of the iceberg. Don’t let this indictment distract from the much more serious issues with the Biden administration and the ubiquitous institutionalized power of the left that props it up.
