49ers Grades: What we rated their performance on Offense and Defense vs The Rams

The San Francisco 49ers defeated the LA Rams at Sofi Stadium 30-23, making it 9 straight wins for Kyle Shanahan’s squad in the regular season against their California divisional rivals. Although it wasn’t pretty at times, the niners are 2-0 and rolling into week 3 on another W.

Offense: (B-) It was an up and down day for the offense. Purdy missed a couple throws, had some three and outs, but ultimately got it going at the right time, was able to make some good throws driving the team down the field leading to a QB sneak before the end of the half. Deebo was also lively and showed how he can make it back to his 2021 form that landed him the big contract. That TD at the end from Deebo was something else. McCaffrey also deserves a shoutout, he had 116 rush yards and a TD.

Defense: (C+) Struggled to get to Stafford early in the game and the corners were getting beat all over the place. However, they came up big when it counted, and had 2 interceptions that resulted in points. They were also able to finally pressure Stafford in the 4th, which stymied the rams attempt at making a comeback.

Special Teams (B-) Moody had another solid day of kicking with a long 57 yard field goal. Apart from that, there weren’t any meaningful run backs. They did have a penalty, but it was at the end of the game, and didn’t end up costing them the game.
