Player Ratings: Inter Miami Beats Nashville SC In Penalties

Inter Miami beat Nashville SC in penalties, in a game that was at times painful to watch on account of its lack of quality. Truthfully, the penalty shootout was better than the game.

Starting XI

Callender: 7.5: His own goal was a bit unlucky, but he could have done better. Redeemed himself with a good save in the 76th minute, the 90+2 minute and 90+3 minute. Made his penalty kick and had game winning save.

Miller: 5: Looked shaky and like a mistake was about to happen at any time. His made penalty was the only positive for him.

Kryvtsov: 5.5: Forgot he was on the pitch. Made his penalty though.

Yedlin: 5.5: Wasn’t terrible but did nothing good. Needs better touch on the ball, but might be too late. Nicely made penalty.

Arroyo: 5.5: Nothing of note to say.

Alba: 5: Pretty anonymous. Too many poor passes, but scored his penalty.

Busquets: 4: Extremely slow and sluggish, and made a couple shocking passes. He must improve, or should retire. At least he made his penalty.

Cremaschi: 6: Lively throughout the match. Had a cross-shot almost find the back of the net in the 56th minute.

Martinez: 5: Had some dangerous moments going forward, but too deferential to Messi

Taylor: 5: Decent, nothing more.

Messi: 9: His usual otherworldly self. Scored a screamer and only had the post deny him a decent second goal. Did walk around quite a bit and sent a free kick to the Moon. Reminded me of his penalty kick against Chile in 2016. Unlike in 2016, made his penalty in the shootout.

Subs

Gomez: 5.5: subbed on in the 68th minute. Nothing of note to say, except that he made his penalty.

Campana: 1.5: subbed on in the 69th minute. Had one of the most shocking misses I’ve ever seen. Was one v one against keeper, had a shocking chip attempt that somehow worked, had defender behind him trip, and still missed open net. Shocking that he is a “professional” footballer. The entire county of Ecuador, the country he is from, should hang their head in shame. Only reason he did not get a 0 is because he made his penalty kick.

Ulloa: 2.5: subbed on in the 81st minute and won the lottery by not getting a red card for his last man foul in the 90th minute. Missed the would be game winning penalty.

Ruiz: 5.5: subbed on in the 81st minute, but nothing to say about him except that he made his penalty.
