Player Ratings – SKC falls to LAFC 2-1

Sporting Kansas City fell 2-1 to LAFC in an entertaining summer afternoon game at Children’s Mercy Park. Sporting were unlucky tonight, as they created good opportunities and had a goal disallowed in stoppage time. The partnership between Salloi and Pulido really stood out, and arguably deserved more from the game. But that’s the reality of the beautiful game, and credit to LAFC for clawing their way to 3 points.

Starting 11

Mcintosh 6.5/10 – Great save on Biuk and had good distribution. Little he could’ve done on both goals.

Davis: 6/10 – Had a good ball into Thommy in the first half, but was anonymous outside of that (which isn’t necessarily a bad thing for a defender)

Castellanos: 6/10– Cut off some goof balls by the LAFC attack. Good 1 v1 play against Subah. Arguably could’ve been more aware on the LAFC goal.

Rosero: 6/10 – crucial tackle on counter and had some moments where he was very cool on the ball. But he arguably shouldn’t have allowed Maldonado to get his head on the goal

Leibod: 6.5/10 –good energy in the first half and contributed to some good build up. Had a fantastic ball into Walter in the second hald

Thommy: 6.5/10 – Had a great ball into Salloi in the first half and got a shot on goal. But was unable to have much influence outside of that.

Radoja: 6/10 – calm in the midfield but would’ve liked to see him get his shots on target.

Walter: 6.5/10 – Good job of remaining calm when receiving in the midfield. Got some shots on target. Gave up a dangerous counter.

Kinda: 6.5/10 – Won himself a penalty in the first half but didn’t see much of the ball before getting subbed out.

Pulido: 8/10 – scored penalty and had a great first half combining with Salloi, lovely nutmeg. Great combination with Salloi

Salloi: 7/10 – Great combination play with Pulido. Could’ve done more with a couple opportunities in the box.

Subs

Shelton:4/10 – Did a decent job in keeping the ball when he came on but didn’t get out quick enough on the Vela goal which kept him onside and ultimately cost them the game.

Espinoza: 6.5/10 – Tried his best to feed the attackers when he came on and was unlucky to get his headed goal taken from him.

Russell: 6.5/10 – Was energetic in his first game back from injury and swung in a good ball in stoppage time.
