Player Ratings – Mexico vs Honduras

Mexico beat Honduras infront of a packed crowd at NRG stadium in Houston, Texas. Mexico started on the front foot with a beautiful goal by Romo before the first minute, he added a second one in the 23′, before Pineda added a 3rd in the 52′ minute. Chavez added a 4th in the 63′ to cap off the night. Mexico was very comfortable even allowing Honduras control possession in moments, while always staying compact defensively. They picked their moments going forward well and it paid off. Ultimately the 4-0 result was justified.

Starting 11

Ochoa: 7 –Didn’t have much work to do. Good distribution. Clean Sheet.

Sanchez: 7.5 Combined well with Antuna and almost got himself an assist. Did a decent job defensively.

Chavez: 7.5- Good Finish on the fourth goal and did well defensively.

Vasquez: 7.5 –had a good block and was very stable on the backline.

Gallardo: 7 –Good flick on the second goal to setup Romo.

Pineda: 8- Fantastic goal that made it 3-0. Played freely in the middle with lots of creativity, and won himself the adoration of the Houston crowd.

Romo: 9 – MOTM. Fantastic first goal of a half volley and good header in the back post on the second.

Alvarez: 7.5 –Pulled the strings and had some good clearances.

Antuna: 7 –Did well in getting forward on the counters and had a nice backheel on the sequence in the second goal.

Martin: 7.5 – Great layoff to Pineda on the third goal.

Sanchez: 7 – Got forward on the first goal by swinging in a good ball that ended up in a Romo goal on the clearance.

SUBS:

Gimenez: 5 – Should’ve gotten himself on the scoresheet but scoffed his shot and didn’t time his run well on the second.

Rodriguez: 6 –Kept possession well, game settled down after he came on.

Herrera: N/A – not enough involvement
