Israel Beats Brazil in the U20 World Cup Quarterfinals, Anti Semites are Livid

Israel beat Brazil today in the FIFA U20 World Cup quarterfinals. This means that they will play the winner of the USA and Uruguay in the semifinals next Thursday. Their achievement is more impressive, considering this is the first time that Israel has qualified for an under 20 World Cup.

Israel had already had a profound impact on this tournament before a ball was kicked. The tournament was originally supposed to be held in Indonesia. But because Indonesia refused to host Israel, Indonesia was rightly stripped of their hosting duties, and the tournament was moved to Argentina.

Many despicable anti semites have flooded FIFA posts with anti Israel messages. Comments claiming that Israel is not a country. This despite the fact that Judea was the historic homeland of the Jews for thousands of years. Despite the fact that “Palestine” is not and never has been a self governing country. The Romans named the region of Judea “Palestine” before Muslims and any group connected with modern day Palestinians existed.

The anti-Israel commenters have been waiting for Israel to lose, just so they could gloat. But even if Israel had gone out in the group stages, Israel would have won. They have already stood up to the antisemitism and competed. The tournament was moved. And it just so happened that in the midst of all of this, Israel had the best tournament they possible could have.

While this is a U20 tournament, it cannot be overstated how incredible it is for a tiny, persecuted country like Israel to make the semis. So many commenters on posts of Israel v Brazil said stuff like “I only see one country,” obviously claiming that Israel is not a country. How sweet it is for Israel to continue on in this tournament.

Israel has succeeded more than anyone could have hoped for. No matter what happens from here on out, they will be welcomed back as heroes in their country. Let’s see if they can go even farther.
